Overview

Puzzle Safari is using a new system this year that uses QR codes and geo-location to "virtually" collect a stamp.

The runner will log into the Puzzle Safari web site and select Runner Mode. The runner's phone will display all puzzles that their team has correctly solved, along with the stamp location.

The runner must find a small QR code instead of a stamp. They can use their phone to scan the code, or enter the code manually if their phone camera does not work. The phone GPS is used to verify they scanned the code in the correct place. Only one runner phone can be used to scan codes (this can be transferred between phones, however.)

It is recommended that you test all phones that runners may wish to use before the event. To test a phone, first print a test QR code so that you know what they look like and can practice scanning.

If you have trouble with Location/GPS or Camera access, check out tips in the FAQ.

Click here to test your smartphone. Note that the "Only show puzzles not marked as stamped" checkbox is not functional in this example. Some phones may not support live camera access in the browser. Users of these phones must enter the QR code on their phone keyboard.
